In our Omega NC800 review we’ll take a look at the latest juicer from legendary manufacturer Omega.
This is their second major revision since the Omega 8006, one of the best masticating juicers you can buy.
But are the improvements worth the extra money over the 8006? We’ll answer this question, plus look at the differences between the Omega NC800 vs Omega 8008 vs Omega 8006 in our comparison table.

Overview

Just like Omega’s other horizontal masticating juicers, the NC800 is a cold press, slow juicer. It uses a single auger which rotates slowly at 80 rpm to ‘squeeze and press’ produce:

As produce works its way along the auger, it’s compressed and squeezed into a tighter space. This ensures you get the most juice out of your leafy greens and other produce, while ejecting the driest pulp.
The only type of juicer which beats a single auger for juicing yield is a titurating juicer (aka a twin gear juicer), but the cost is much higher.
Here’s a video overview of the juicer:
The NC800 has some great features over the 8006 / 8004 and the 8007 / 8008, the main one being:
The Good
+ Adjustable End Cap for Higher Yield
The biggest improvement in the NC800 / NC900 juicer is the adjustable end cap, which you can use to maximize its juice yield over the range of produce.
For example, you’d set it to 1 for the softest, juiciest things like soft fruits, and increase it all the way to 5 for the hardest and driest things like leafy greens.
This adjusts the tension inside the juicing chamber, meaning the driest produce stays in the juicing chamber for a more thorough squeezing before the pulp is finally ejected.
(If you don’t feel like using it, just set it to 0)
+ Wider Feed Chute
The feed chute is larger in the NC800 / NC900 than in any of their other horizontal masticating juicers.
It’s an oval shape, measuring about 2″ x 1.5″, which is over 75% larger than the 8006 and 8008’s 1.5″ x 1.5″ round feed chute.

+ Heavy Duty Parts
From the 8004 / 8006 and onwards, Omega have used an Ultem auger, which is 8x stronger than the auger supplied in previous juicers (the 8003 / 8005). The NC800 / NC900 also uses the Ultem auger.
From the 8007 / 8008 onwards, Omega have used a tougher dual stage juicing screen, which uses stainless steel in both stages. This juicer also uses the same heavy-duty juicing screen.
+ BPA free
From the 8007 / 8008 onwards, Omega have used BPA free plastic in their juicers. This one is also BPA free.
It also has the same benefits as the other horizontal Omega juicers:
+ High Yield on Leafy Greens
The single auger gives an amazing yield on leafy greens, much more than centrifugal juicers can. At this price, there’s no better juicer which gives a higher yield on leafy greens, especially with the adjustable end cap which increases the yield even further.
+ Easy to Clean
Omega juicers are easy to clean too, with fewer washable parts than other brands of masticating juicer. Omega make the easiest to clean single auger juicer out there, and the NC800 / 900 is no different.
+ Quiet Operation
Since the auger spins at only 80 rpm, it produces a soothing hum rather than the jet engine sound common with centrifugal juicers.
It’s quiet enough that it won’t wake anyone in the house - it’s even quiet enough that you can still hear the TV over it.
+ Perfectly Preserved Juice
Since the auger rotates slowly, it doesn’t produce heat or introduce oxygen to your juice which can damage the nutrients.
The result is a more nutrient dense juice than you can get elsewhere.
It does produce a pulpier juice than the 8004 / 8006 and 8007 / 8008 - this is due to the more complete extraction from the adjustable nozzle.
If you like a pulpier juice this is great, but even if you don’t, simply place a strainer over your juicing bowl to catch the extra pulp.
+ Versatile
You can also use it to make all-natural nut butters, baby food, soy milk, almond milk, healthy ice cream, and a variety of other healthy snacks using the supplied attachments - this nutrition center does more than just juice.
+ 15 Year Warranty
Omegas come with the longest warranty in the industry, giving you peace of mind and meaning you’ll get to enjoy your investment for at least a decade and a half!
The Bad
- Slower to Juice
The slow juicing mechanism has so many great benefits - the only downside is that it’s slower than other juicers.
- A Learning Curve
The adjustable nozzle is great because it means you can get the most juice out of your produce. The downside is that it has a learning curve.
While you’re learning what setting is best for what item of produce, you might find it getting clogged and juice backing up and rising up the feed chute.
- Pre-Cutting Veggies
The feed chute is the widest on any of Omega’s horizontal masticating juicers, which means less produce needs to be cut to fit into the feed chute.
But produce with long fibres, like celery, still need to be diced. Otherwise the long fibres will wind around the slow auger and clog it.
What’s the Difference Between the NC800 and NC900?
The only difference is the color. The NC800 is a silver color, while the NC900 is a chrome color.

Conclusion
By now, you have a good idea of the NC800 and the differences between the models. Here are our recommendations:
If price is the most important thing to you, the Omega 8006 would be the best choice for you. You can save even more money by buying the white Omega 8004.
If you always want to switch your brain off and juice, you’re probably better off with the Omega 8004 / 8006 or the 8007 / 8008 since you won’t need to fiddle with an adjustable nozzle. (You can always turn the adjustable nozzle to 0 with the NC800 on the days you want to juice without paying attention.)
If you want the absolute highest yield you can get from a single auger horizontal masticating juicer, buy the NC800 / NC900.
