This is a vertical masticating juicer. It uses a slow spinning single auger to crush, squeeze and compress produce to get every last drop out of it:

This is a highly efficient of way of juicing, and leaves exceptionally dry pulp.

And because the auger moves so slowly at 50-60 rpm, it doesn’t heat the juice or fold oxygen into it, both of which can spoil the juice. Because of this, the juice from the B6000 can be stored for longer without such a loss of nutrition (up to 72 hours in the fridge).

For this reason, it’s also known as a cold press, slow juicer.

The Good

+ Full Size 3″ Feed Chute

This is the first (and at the time of writing, the only) vertical masticating juicer to have a full size feed chute - wide enough to take most produce whole.

This is a big time saver since you will be spending less time pre-cutting your fruit and veggies.

It has a more powerful motor, 240W, to deal with the extra load. This is much more than the 150W motors in its rival, the Omega VRT400.

But produce with long fibers, like celery, will still need to be pre-cut otherwise they will wind around the auger and clog it.

+ Easy to Clean

One of the drawbacks of vertical auger juicers is that they take longer to clean than horizontal auger juicers like the Omega 8006, 8008 or NC800.

Kuvings have done a good job of closing down that time difference with the B6000 with a better design and some special tools supplied to make cleaning easy:

The hardest part to clean is the screen, so Kuvings have supplied a green cleaning frame to help. Simply slot it over the frame, turn it to the left and right and remove. Then finish it off by using the big brush on the inside of the screen.

This makes it one of the quickest and easiest to clean vertical masticating juicers - perfect for you if the idea of cleaning puts you off using it.

+ Best All Round Juicer

Centrifugal juicers are best for speed but give the worst yield and quality of juice, horizontal masticating juicers are best for leafy greens, and vertical masticating juicers are best for a mix of both firmer produce and leafy produce.

If you juice a wide variety of things, a vertical juicer like this will give you the best yield. Juice comes out a little pulpier, but you can always strain it out by placing an inexpensive sieve on your juice collection bowl.

+ Quiet

Because of the slow auger, the B6000 is quiet. However it’s the loudest of the vertical slow juicers because the more powerful motor needs to work harder to juice whole fruits and veggies.

You’d need to speak up to continue your conversation or turn the TV up to hear it, but both are still manageable.

+ Does More Than Juice

This also makes healthy snacks and desserts like frozen fruit sorbets and nut butters. Simply drop your frozen fruits or nuts into the top after attaching the supplied blank plate and you’re away.

This is the only vertical slow juicer which can do this.

Because it’s an upright juicer, it’s better for small kitchens than a horizontal juicer.

The Bad

- It’s Slower

This is a slow juicer, so it does take longer to juice. It’s the only way to ensure you have the highest possible juice yield and the best preserved nutrients, so you’ll need to ask yourself what’s more important - time or juice?

- Still some Pre-Cutting

Although the Kuvings B6000 is wide enough to take most things whole, as I’ve mentioned previously celery and other long fiber items still need to be pre-cut to avoid clogging the auger.

- Not great for leafy greens ALONE

If you want to juice only wheatgrass, kale or spinach for example, the yield won’t be as high as it is in a horizontal masticating juicer like the Omega NC800, 8006 or 8008.

Vertical single auger juicers rely on tension to get the most juice out of it - it relies on thicker veggies being juiced along with the thinner ones to add weight and tension inside the juicing chamber.

Leafy greens alone aren’t heavy enough, so will escape the full might of the single auger.

If you want the maximum yield, a titurating (or twin gear) juicer will give you it.

Conclusion

If price is most important to you, the Omega VRT350 would be the best choice for you. It’s performance is on par with the Kuvings Whole Juicer, and it’s significantly cheaper.

If you want the easiest to clean vertical juicer, the Omega VSJ843 is actually a little easier to clean. It’s more efficient at ejecting pulp from the machine meaning theres less clogged up pulp for you to wash out.

If you want the vertical juicer with the least vegetable prep time and effort, the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer wins hands down with its full size feed chute.
