Method one: Use a good processor or blender to make carrot juice

Here are the steps to follow when using a blender or food processor to prepare carrot juice.

Step one: Clean the carrots

Wash about 8 carrots weighing about 2 pounds or 1 kg with clean, cold running water. If you have a vegetable brush, you can scrub the tubers gently to remove all dirt and soil particles. Next, use a sharp knife to cut off the broad ends — the end attached to the roots and the other side attached to the carrot leaves.

If you fear pesticides might have punched on the carrot surface, you can peel them off. Peeling does not necessarily reduce the nutrient content. If you find peeling carrots hard, you can buy organically grown carrots because they are usually pesticide-free. With this option, it is essential to note that organic carrots are pretty expensive.

Step two: Cut the carrots into small pieces

Whether you are using a high-quality blender or food processor, there is no need to strain it with large carrot pieces. Cut the carrots into manageable pieces to avoid damaging your precious kitchen appliance. Food processors and blenders can finely blend 1-2 inches of carrot chunks.

Step three: Puree the carrots

Put your cleaned carrots in a blender or food processor, whichever you want. Process until everything is finely chopped and mashed. Add in some water if the carrots are not moist. The water will help in breaking down the carrot pieces within a shorter time. Notably, you will get different puree results from the blender and the excellent processor.

The blender will give better-mashed puree than a food processor can.

Step four: Mix the puree with water

Water plays a significant role in removing all the nutrient content of the carrots and making them sweeter. It also increases the amount of juice without compromising nutrients.

Boil two cups of water and mix the carrot puree with this hot water in a large container. It is advisable to use a glass container that is large enough to allow you to stir the mixture. Stirring ensures all particles are evenly distributed and that there are no crushes or bumps.

Step five: Allow the mixture to be steep

Water has very remarkable properties, especially when it comes to dealing with nutrients and flavors. The longer you allow your puree to steep in hot water, the better it becomes. It maintains its nutrients and sweetness over all this time.

After mixing, allow the juice to stay for about 15 minutes before you bring it out. You can add a few ice cubes to the juice.

Step six: Remove the pulp

Take a hand strainer and strain the juice into a 2 liters pitcher. You can use a wooden or any blunt object to remove even the last drop from the glass. Alternatively, you can pass the juice through a jelly strainer. Once you’re done, leave the juice to cool off.

Step seven: Add oranges or fresh lemon 

This step is optional, particularly if you want a pure carrot smoothie.

Adding lemon juice will introduce sweetness and a new taste to the carrot juice. Best of all, adding these flavors doesn’t harm your fresh juice.

Step eight: Prepare the blend.

You can easily make your carrot juice from home regardless of your use. Depending on how thick or light you want it to appear, you can start by adding more water with ice cubes to the liquid. Stop adding water when your juice has diluted the grade you wanted. You want to make sure that it is not too thick or not too watery.

Step nine: Serve the juice.

Once the juice is ready, serve it immediately. Typically, fresh juice starts oxidizing and losing vital nutrients once it is left open. Oxidizing happens faster, mainly when you have used a high-speed centrifugal juice maker. Take the ice to room temperature, or add a few cubes to your cup if you have some readily available. You can also refrigerate the fresh homemade juice, but ensure you consume it within 24 hours.

 

Method Two: Make carrot juice using a juicer

 

Step one: Clean the carrots

Wash about 8 pieces of carrot and rub thoroughly until all dirt is gone. Use a vegetable brush to scrub away the dirt. Use a sharp knife to cut both ends, then peel off the carrots, especially if you fear the presence of pesticides. Remember, peeling does not reduce nutritional value.

Step two: Chop the carrots

Chop your carrots into small manageable parts, 2-3 inches. However, you can skip this step if you have an industrial juicer. The idea of chopping is to ensure that all the parts are perfectly worked on.

Step three: Prepare a receptacle unit.

Prepare your juice receptacle and put the stall glass under the juice spot. Ensure everything is stable and firm on the surface to avoid them from toppling. A pound of carrots is enough to make juice for serving at least two glasses.

Step four: Feed all the carrots in the juicer

Put the carrots you had initially prepared in the juicer. Push them down using the juicer attachments so they can all fall inside and be worked on. Keep a close eye on the glass. If the carrots had high water content, the glass might fill up faster than you imagined.

On the contrary, if the carrots had no water, you would need to add more water because the initial glass might not fill up within time, and you might need to add more.

Step five: Serve your juice. 

Take your juice immediately before oxidation starts to occur. If not, you can store it in the fridge and drink it later. Importantly, ensure it only stays in that fridge for over 24 hours. Ice cubes can be handy to make the juice a little sweet.
